Name: Gwen Fonseca
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Animal: Leopard Seal
Accessory: Anklet
Personality: Stand-offish at first; but once she warms up to a person, she is energetic and playful- a enduring person and friend. Rather ignorant. When a serious task needs to be fulfilled, however, she can be fierce and relentless.
Previous History: Gwen Nereida Jarvi Fonseca was born August 16, 1989 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is the second oldest of 9 siblings, and the only girl. Gwen had a very normal, happy childhood: helping take care of her siblings while her hard-working parents were busy running a small (but successful) costume and accessories shop, keeping house, going to school, having fun with friends, and of course, her most favorite hobby in the world: Swimming. Not only did she swim in clubs, but she was also the captain in her school’s girl swim team. With her life as perfect as she could hope for, Gwen couldn’t have been happier.
Shortly after she turned 11, however, that all changed, for it was the first time she transformed-- into a Leopard Seal. Luckily, it happened in the family swimming pool in the backyard; a while later, after she turned back into her human form, her father, whose parents moved his family to Colorado from Spain when he was a boy, explained that his eldest brother was a shifter as well, in a form of a Leopard Shark; while her mother, who hailed from Finland, patiently explained to the devastated young girl that her mother had the form of a Polar Bear. They finished their stories to say that those relatives lead perfectly normal lives, keeping their respective forms a secret. While this made it a little easier to bear for the young shifter, they continued to say that her life will be difficult from now on, but with a certain adjustments, it can be pretty good. Unfortunately, one of these adjustments was her constant contact of water in public view, which seemed to trigger her then-uncontrollable transformations; so with a heavy heart, the risk of exposure to an all-too cruel world ended her promising swimming career.
Gwen and her family lived peacefully without incident for five years afterward, until one clear, moonlit evening, while playing in the pool with her younger brothers in her animal form, a nosy neighbor spotted them with a telescope, and watched the more-controlled Gwen shift back to her human form when she and her siblings retired for the evening. By the next day, the neighbor proceeded to rally a lynch mob to get “that d**n shifting freak”. While her father, her mother, and her older brother were more than willing to exercise the Colorado “Make My Day” law and defend her, Gwen, unbeknownst to her family, willingly gave herself up to the mob for the safety of her close-knit family-- and was immediately picked up by a group of mysterious people who said that the place they were taking her would be safe…
Yeah right. Thus began her life in The Cage.
Weaknesses: Land (rather clumsy, in both human and animal form)
Strengths: Swimming (in both forms)
Fears: enclosed spaces; nets (Claustrophobia)
