(Current Song Playing: .hack//sign - Aura ; Its a good song and it gave me the muse for this post XP I kinda think it goes along with it)
Raoul grabbed Ruby's wrist before she could leave, his head tilted down slightly and his eyes closed. "I could care less about my damn wounds, Ruby. I'll live to see another day. What I want to know is where Rei went. She didn't just go out to get something to eat, did she?" he asked in a low voice, yet it wasn't threatening. "You know... As much as she wants to, she can't really hide or run away. Not here, when she's going to be trapped in by rooms and all these scientific bastards. I just want to help her and if she wants to leave me, fine... I'm not putting any chains on her. You didn't have to lie, either." Raoul let her go, moving toward the cupboards and looking through them until he found the bandages. Taking out a roll, he began to unwravel it and wrap it around the claw wounds on his stomach.
"Honey, I'll be right back to finish the story. I promised your father I'll help him with his work tonight." Raoul nodded his head, watching her walk out of his room with that bright smile he loved. He sat on the bed for a few minutes, wondering how the story would end. Would the hero find the princess? She wouldn't be dead by the time he found her would she? Hopefully not. If he was the hero, he'd go through anything to save the princess. Even if it meant giving his own life.
With a sigh, he fell back against the bed and stared at the ceiling, still thinking about the story. Yet time passed and it had been a long time since his mother had come back. Raoul curled up on his side, blinking away his doubts and worries. Yet soon, he couldn't take it. He slid off the side of his bed, feet lightly touching the ground as he walked across the floor and out into the hall. Slowly, he made his way down the hallway and to his father's room. The door was slightly ajar and he peeked through it, his hand resting on it lightly. He saw his mother on the ground, crying silently and staring up at his father. His eyes widened with worry and his hand clenched into a fist, causing the door to move slightly. When his father looked at the door, Raoul entered the room at the same time, his eyes on his mother.
He quickly began toward her side, but just as he passed his father to reach her, he was stopped. "Dad, why is Mom crying again? Did she get fired from her job again?" he asked, itching to go to his mother's side. But his father had a firm grip on his neck, eyes slanted at his mother. Raoul looked between the two with a sad look, but he didn't let the tears through. "Dad...?" Suddenly his father's grip tightened considerably, causing Raoul's eyes to widen and almost cry out in pain. But the child knew what would satisfy him and not, which was why he bottled the pain inside.
I'm not losing another loved one to something so stupid... he thought, finishing the bandaging and throwing the rest of it aside. He buttoned up his tattered silk shirt and headed for the door. "I'm going to find her. I can care less about myself, remember that, so don't try to stop me. Just go out with your man and have a good time," he said, passing her and heading down the hall.
